I moved to Kew Gardens 7 years ago. It's quiet at night, there are enough things to do in the immediate area (sit-down restaurants, outdoor dining, cafes, bank, pharmacies, hair salons, independent movie theater, day spa, etc.), the library is a close walk, and it's pretty quiet at night, especially for NYC. My favorite spots are Cookies and Cream Pastry Shop, Ascend Day Spa, Kew Gardens Cinemas, and Dani's Pizza. I really like that it's ethnically diverse, dog-friendly, and LGBTQ-friendly. I have never been cat-called here and no one has said anything anti-gay toward me or my spouse which unfortunately was not my experience in other neighborhoods. I feel that the people are much more down-to-earth here compared to some other NYC neighborhoods. I have several neighbors that I consider actual friends. If you have a dog, you will meet a ton of people. Depending on exactly where you are in KG, you may walk a bit to the LIRR or subway, but there are plenty of bus stops.

One of the standout features of Kew Gardens is its abundant green spaces. The crown jewel, of course, is the stunning Forest Park, which feels like a slice of paradise in the urban jungle. The expansive park offers an array of recreational activities, from picnics to hiking and biking trails. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or just looking for a peaceful escape, Forest Park is the perfect retreat.

I've lived in Kew Gardens previously, it was a decent little town and still is but largely depends on why you would want to move here.
It's usually a pretty quiet neighborhood (though tends to be noisier along Metropolitan Ave). Very safe overall. The northern part near the subway stop and courthouse is less inviting. There are some nice houses on tree-lined streets that you don't see in many other parts of NYC that are hyper-urbanized.
There's an independent movie theater that's been here for many years, and two very good pizza fast-food places. The apartment buildings here are pretty basic and the architecture could be nicer.
A cool little town if you don't need the trendiness and hipness of Williamsburg, Astoria or other neighborhoods in NYC. It's mainly a working-class town with many flight attendants. JFK airport is pretty close to here.
The LIRR also stops here and is often a better option going to/from NYC or Long Island. The subway is a fairly long commute to Manhattan.
