Had the "carefree maintenance" done this weekend.

Just noticed the invoice does not say 507.00 oil. It has part # g-052-167-s0. I could not find any info online. Did they put in the right stuff, or am I going to have to return?

Thanks.

The correct (507.0) oil sold by dealers is: Castrol SLX Professional Longlife III. The VW part number for this oil is: VW G-052-195-1L.

If the put in anything else, they owe you another oil change for free (done right this time). Apparently "carefree" does not mean correct. They might not care, but you should.

Have Fun!

Don

P.S. I really find it amazing that VW dealers are still screwing this up after 3 years of "practice".

Spec 504.00/507.00: ACEA-C3

VW Part #: G-052-195-1L

Which Dealership might this be?

I had a service done on the road while on Vacation and the dealership said Bulk Oil. I ran it till I got home and swapped it with fresh in the Bottle 1 liter Castrol from my local dealer.

Dealer receipts dont say much on what was actually done. Service writers just pull up a generic schedule service w/ pre-filled list of parts that may or may not show the correct parts.

The only way to tell if you got the correct oil is to either watch them pour it in, request the leftovers, or DIY. However, with that said, if your receipt indicates the wrong oil you should have a second oil change regardless of the accuracy of the parts list.

I also ask for the empty bottles..

I concur completely with the previous posts.

If you did not get G-052-195-1L oil you did not get the right stuff. It only comes in 1 liter gold plastic bottles. Thus you would require 5 and it should be listed that way on your RO.

Get it out of there and have the right stuff put in. Did they put in the correct oil? (9)

I need to check the invoice now. After getting the car back with a scratch, losing a lug bolt, and finding all the other lugs 20 pounds off of the torque spec, it did not occur to check the type of oil used. thank you.

VW Springfield in Fairfax, VA near I-95 and I-495.
I've bought all my dubs there but have used their service only for warranty work until now.
Looks like I might have to reconsider the free maintenance. I can't trust them now. Did they put in the correct oil? (12)
That program has gone on for what, like two years now? How many incorrect oil changes is that???
What a shame.

FWIW, Castrol claims to sell the 507 oil in bulk (in a barrel, in other words).
Doesn't mean you shouldn't be concerned about what they put in, but a lack of gold bottles isn't definitive, apparently.

Do we have any proof of this? Or just making blanket assumptions?

I'd love to know the source of that claim, a reasonable challenge, that's all..
